UMS 101: We Came to Step, complements UMS’s presentation of Step Afrika! on Sunday, March 12. Familiarize yourself with and deepen your understanding of stepping tradition. Facilitated by Jack Williams III, this UMS 101 will offer background and contextual learning, live demonstrations, and participatory activities in a fun, casual environment.
Step Afrika! integrates song, dance, storytelling, humor, and audience participation in highlighting the importance of stepping in cultural identity and the use of body percussion as a means of communication. Immerse yourself in the world of stepping and learn some of the signature styles.
