Description

Color + Unity: Painting Expressions and Scenes

Painting is the oldest artform and has long supported self-discovery, communication, and artistic expression. Students will depict the world around them and convey their emotions through practicing observation skills, reflection, and conceptualization. Students will study the importance of color and unity while training in styles from realism to abstract expressionism. Projects will require students to practice both traditional and experimental painting techniques at the same time as drawing from the work of artists around the world such as Mark Rothko, Kehinde Wiley, Claude Monet, and AAC alumni Sydney Butchkess and Mary Spencer Nay.

If your child is 9 years old, please consider if they would be more comfortable in the younger class with 5-8-year-olds before registering, as exceptions are sometimes made for ages on the cusp of each class. Registrations outside of the age limits can be discussed by emailing engagement@artacademy.edu or by calling 513-562-8762.

Read our protocols here. By signing up for our programs, you and your minor student(s) are agreeing to abide by the rules and policies in the handbook.
