Description
For amateur and avid herpetologists alike, these guided hikes will explore the herpetological biodiversity of each park and conservation area in Chesterfield County. Join our environmental educators to flip logs, scour wetlands, and hike creek beds looking for the elusive reptiles and amphibians of Chesterfield County. Dress for your exploration - long pants, boots, and snake hooks are recommended!
Note: Transportation is not provided. Meets at Shelter 1 at R. Garland Dodd Park at Point of Rocks
Program Information:
-Program is held outdoors.
-Limited field tools are available to borrow, bringing personal field tools is recommended.
-Hiking footwear is recommended. Trails have periodic benches for resting.
-Distance traveled will be between 1.5 and 3 miles.
-Outdoor surfaces traveled on in this program include: paved, gravel, and dirt trails with roots and uneven surfaces, floating boardwalk without railings, wetland areas with mud and roots, and steep hills.
-This program includes visual and tactile elements.
