Description

The best way to stay safe around snakes is to learn how to identify them. Join an environmental educator to learn how to identify the most common snakes found in Chesterfield County, and how to coexist with them. Observe an ambassador snake from Rockwood Nature Center up close to learn more about snake biology. Take a short hike to view snake habitat in Rockwood Park.

Program Information:
-Program is held both indoors and outdoors, ramp accessible.
-Limited field tools are available to borrow, bringing personal field tools is recommended.
-Hiking footwear is recommended. Trails have periodic benches for resting.
-Distance traveled will be between 0.5 and 1 miles.
-Outdoor surfaces traveled on in this program include: paved trails, dirt trails with roots and uneven surfaces, and steep hills.
-This program includes visual and tactile elements.
