Description

TRUDEAU TRAINING CENTER - Come discover the amazing world of our furry flying friends – the “Night Wings” of Southern Alameda County! This two-evening training session will prepare volunteers to participate in our bat survey methods which include roost exist counts, bat acoustics, thermal imaging and more. This on-going wildlife research includes setting up sampling equipment, monitoring, and hands-on data entry. By participating, you’ll earn your “Bat Brigade” patch.

Physical labor is involved with this project. Registration is required. Children under 18 welcome with parent participation.

Please note: there are two required sessions for this training:
  1. Classroom training session on Friday, June 13, 2025, from 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM at Trudeau Training Center in Oakland.
  2. Field sampling sessions between June 18 - 21 at locations to be announced following the classroom session. Time: one-hour before sunset to 2.5 hours after dark
What to bring (please bring to both the classroom and field dates): outdoor clothing (long pants), waterproof boots (closed-toe footwear), gloves, hats, water, and sunscreen, flashlight/headlamp, binoculars, a notepad, clip board, and writing instruments.
