The Preserves Are for You: Bilingual Bird Hike
In-Person2022|#PR082722
Description
Join the Forest Preserve District on a hike through Lockport Prairie Nature Preserve searching for resident birds or early migrants that are beginning their journey south for the season. Many birds call the savanna and woodland areas along the river home. Participants will search for everything from eagles and woodpeckers to warblers and shorebirds. The hike is open to all, from first-time birders to those who have more experience. The hike will be led by Will County Audubon Society member and Forest Preserve volunteer Joel Craig, and a Spanish language translator will accompany the group.
The hike is being offered as part of The Preserves Are for You campaign launched earlier this year by the Forest Preserve District. Bring binoculars and your favorite field guide if you have them. The hike will be 1 mile to 2 miles on natural surface trails over uneven terrain.
