2025 Summer Sail Camp - Sandpipers (6-8 yrs.) 7/21-7/25 a.m.

The City of Orange Beach Wind and Water Learning Center will offer 2025 Summer Sail Camp from early June through early August. The only exception is Fourth of July week when camp is not held. Registration will open on March 6th.

US Sailing Certified Level 1 Small Boat Instructors guide campers during week-long Sail Camps in June and July using Optimist Prams and Sunfish sailboats. Our Sail Camps are intended to introduce newer sailors to the sport or help older campers brush up on the skills they learned last summer in a safe and fun environment. Water safety and good sportsmanship are essential in all of our Sail Camp activities! All campers will need to be able to swim without fear of the water. We will play sailing games, learn knots, and practice the basics of sailing (capsize recovery, points of sail, rigging, how to notice weather and wind direction, sailing terminology, sail trim, and how to skipper and crew a dinghy).

Age grouping:

• Sandpipers (6-8 years old = rising 1st through 3rd graders)
• Pelicans (9-11 years old = rising 4th through 6th graders)
• Ospreys (12-14 years old = rising 7th through 9th graders)
• High School Sail Week (15-17 years old = rising Sophomores through Seniors).

**All camp sessions need a minimum of 4 participants, and are capped at 8 participants.**

• June 9th-13th - 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. - Pelicans
• June 9th-13th - 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. - Pelicans
• July 7th-11th - 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. - Pelicans
• July 14th-18th - 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. - Pelicans
• July 28th-August 1st - 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. - Pelicans

Ospreys

High School Sail Week

The cost is $200/session for non-residents and $175/session for those who own property within the city limits of Orange Beach. Please be aware of the WWLC cancellation policy.

Cancellation Policy: registered participants are eligible for a full refund with a cancellation more than 2 weeks prior to the first day of the selected program, a 50% refund with a cancellation more than 1 week prior to the first day of the selected program, and no refund if they cancel inside of 5 business days prior to the first day of the selected program. Also, if your child is registered for two or more Sail Camp sessions and you cancel one or more past 48 hours of registering, there is a $25 cancellation fee per Sail Camp session canceled.

At a minimum, all Sail Camp participants will need to have closed-toed shoes (Crocs are not recommended), a life jacket (Type III PFD), a refillable water bottle, and sunscreen. A complete daily gear list will be included in the "Guide to Sail Camp" that will be emailed out after registration.
