Description
Are you a teen who is at least 15 years old and attending high school, interested in becoming a lifeguard or swim instructor at the YMCA? Know someone who fits this profile? If you answered yes to either question, our FREE Aquatics Academy: Teen Leadership Program is the perfect opportunity.
During the 8-day course (Monday-Thursday, 9AM-3PM for 2 weeks), participants will become certified in CPR, First Aid, Oxygen Administration, Lifeguarding and Swim Instruction, which will position them for employment this summer or fall.
Prerequisites:
- 15 Years of age by end of first day of program
- 300 yard swim, 150 yard Front Crawl, 150 yard Breaststroke
- 2 minutes treading water, hands in armpits
- 1 minute, 40 seconds: Swim 20 yards, surface dive to retrieve lifeguard brick (7-9 feet in depth), return with brick and exit pool without ladder
