Description

Plant & Animal Identification Nature Walk

Walker Ranch Historic Landmark Park - 12603 West Ave, San Antonio, TX 78216

Join Alamo Area Master Naturalists, from 9am - 11am Saturday, April 5, for the chance to explore Walker Ranch Park. We’ll begin by introducing the basics of the iNaturalist app used to identify and document plants, birds, insects and other critters. We will then walk along park trails for about a mile as we identify and document as many native species as we can! Easy to moderate hiking. Please download the iNaturalist app prior to your hike.

This nature walk is part of the preparation for the City Nature Challenge (CNC). From April 25 to April 28, San Antonio Natural Area Parks, Phil Hardberger Park Conservancy, and Texas Parks Wildlife Department will participate in a fun challenge to see which city can document the most plant and animal species. It's easy to participate by simply making observations on your own using iNaturalist!

· Please download iNaturalist on your phone and create user profile before arriving
· Meet at the outdoor pavilion (next to the playground)
· Please wear closed-toed shoes and dress for the weather
· This is a good activity for adults and older children
· Please leave your pets at home
