Description

Interested in doing your part toward environmental sustainability? Do you have a vegetable garden, orchard, or do you enjoy planting? Raising your own bees can increase your yield 10-fold. These fascinating creatures will offer an opportunity to enjoy your existing floral habitat. In this five-week classroom course, learn the principles of beekeeping, honey bee biology, honey bee safety, how to read a hive, honey bee nutrition, and honey bee communication. There is a learning curve, however, in becoming a responsible beekeeper. Join Tiffany Ayers, Cornell Master Beekeeper, to gain the knowledge needed to become a successful "newbee" beekeeper. For more information, see SayBees Apiary on Facebook or contact saybees.apiary@gmail.com. Now is the time to start a new adventure into the hive just in time for the season to kick off. Ages: 18 years and older.
