Description

Join Dr. Andrea Hunter, an enrolled member of the Osage Nation from the Grayhorse District and the Director of the Osage Nation Historic Preservation Office, for a special tour of Nee Kee Nee. Nee Kee Nee, or “Revived Water” in Osage, is the recently daylighted stream in Tower Grove Park. This project not only serves as a large-scale stormwater management project that slows and filters rainwater, but also honors the ancestral Osage people who inhabited the land prior to European settlement. Dr. Hunter will use her unique background in anthropology, archaeology, and paleoethnobotany to discuss both the story of the Osage people as well as the native plants that can be found along the stream. This tour requires a moderate amount of walking, including along sections that are not paved.
