Description
Paddle through the Intracoastal Waterway to
Masonboro Island to get a front-row view of the
rising Pink Moon. Supplies included. Beginner.
Join us for an unforgettable evening adventure as we kayak across the Intracoastal Waterway to the serene estuarine waters behind Masonboro Island. Once we arrive at Masonboro Island, we’ll disembark and walk across to the ocean side, where we’ll have an epic view of the full Pink Moon rising over the Atlantic Ocean at 5:46 p.m.
Under the glow of the full moon, we’ll paddle back, guided by the setting sun and moonlight shimmering on the water. This is a magical experience you won’t want to miss—perfect for nature lovers, adventurers, and anyone looking to enjoy a unique and serene evening on the water.

Notes
Restrooms: it is unlikely that any restrooms will be available before, during, or after any of our trips. Some trips (Eagles Island) will not involve getting out of our kayaks. Please plan accordingly.
Shoes: please wear shoes for the duration of this trip. Water shoes or sandals that will not slide or pull off in mud, muck, or sand under water. No flip flops please.
Water/snacks: Please bring plenty of water and your own snacks as you wish. Drinking water will not be provided. Some but not all trips will include breaks for snacks. For those that do not include stops (Eagles Island), you may still wish to have a snack in the boat with you. Please be prepared to pack all of your trash out with you.
Sunscreen/Bug spray: Please bring/use your own sunscreen and bug spray. Most of the trips we will go on are buggy and kayaking is a great way to get sunburned legs and forearms!
The program fee includes the use of a kayak, paddle, and personal flotation device (PFD), which must be worn at all times on the water. Tandem kayaks can be provided for those who would like to paddle together and can be requested during registration; both paddlers in the tandem must be registered participants.
Participants who wish to use their own kayak, paddle, and/or PFD may do so and are given an opportunity to make note during registration, but must still wear their PFDs at all times. Email recreation@townofleland.com with questions.
