Hours & Closures

The Forest Preserves of Cook County is open from sunrise to sunset, and outdoor events must end by sunset.

Please note that select picnic shelters may be unlisted online due to bird nesting issues or planned construction activities. In such cases, please call 800-870-3666, option 1, or email staff for more information. Camping Search

Use the "Event Type" filter and choose "Camping."

Picnic & Event Search

Use the "Event Type" filter and choose "Picnic" or "Special Event." Athletic Events cannot be booked online.

Special Use Item Discount

If planning to add Special Use Items to your permit, you can qualify for discounted fees by selecting a picnic package, which allows for the addition of any two items from an Approved Vendor. Learn more on our Picnic & Outdoor Event Permits Page (See Special Use Items).
